World’s Worst Martial Arts Demo

This video is making its rounds, causing people to laugh and make Tae Kwon Do look bad.  Unfortunately, he displays how not to break a board. After watching it, I felt:

a)  mostly sorry for his students that had to watch him embarrass himself and the sport and

b) saddened that someone wearing a 3rd Dan belt  showed such bad form. It begs the question of what did his students think afterwards and did they continue their studies with him?

The other big failing in this video was his lack of regard for safety of his students. He was trying to break the board, in the direction of the students and one sadly got hit in the face by a breaking board. (If it broke, I am not sure that it did). There is one other fault that lies not with the black belt himself, but with the board holders. Can you spot what they are doing wrong? (Post your comments below!)

This video shows the importance of belonging to an organization like the United States Chung Do Kwan Association. Belts are not given away, they are earned. Being the oldest association in North America, we have the privilege of being scrutinized by , not one, but two 9th Degree Dans, GM Edward Sell and his wife, GM Brenda Sell. They strive to be the best of the best and their students work hard, carrying on that tradition. It is ensured by the rigorous testing that is done from Yellow Belt to Black Belt and beyond. This fellow from ITS clearly demonstrates why independent schools is not where you should go to learn any martial art.

Perhaps he was nervous. One of the first lessons we learn that Tae Kwon Do involves focus and that we lay our outside world aside when we put on the uniform. I hope that the next time we see this man, we see nothing but power. Like this guy below!
