Competition and Seminars November 21-22
This is a brand new competition format for us and we are eager to test out this first event. We understand that the registration deadline is now only a month away, but we want to encourage participation above anything! We have a great venue and great hotel sponsorship for the weekend and this is a tremendous opportunity to help us grow as a province and help SaskWTF do more for all of its members!
We welcome all students, at all levels, to enter the Skills Challenge. This challenge will allow students to compete, not against one another, but against an achievement level. They will progress through 5 challenges that test speed, agility, and power at their belt and age level. These challenges will integrate the Daedo TrueScore System and scored electronically. Scores and achievement levels will be recorded on a Certificate that will be awarded to each participant.
For the demonstration events, again, we are encouraging participation and excitement at all levels and ages. Though the International standards for pairs poomse are mixed only, and team poomse are either male or female teams only, we would like to be as inclusive as possible and allow for mixed, male, or female groups at all levels.
We also want to encourage students to design and demonstrate challenging board breaking skills at all levels. Because this event is also demonstration, and we don’t want to introduce students to something they are unfamiliar with, all board breaking students need to provide their own boards (up to 5 breaks). It will allow students who have practiced with rebreakable boards or wooden boards to demonstrate their skills with the tools they know.
The second day of the event is going to be our Saskatchewan Taekwondo Conference – a chance for students and instructors to work on certifications or skills. We will be offering an NCCP Multi-Sport Module, Poomse Seminar for Black Belts, and a Referee course.
