Learning Leadership Skills
At Swift Current Christian Taekwondo, students (of ALL ages) are provided with multiple opportunities to develop leadership skills.
Leadership skills allow children, in particular, to develop responsibility and the ability to make things happen. These skills instill confidence and help them solve problems creatively, work in a team, and work collaboratively with others.
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”
John C. Maxwell
Here are some of the leadership skills we teach at Swift Current Christian Taekwondo.
- Teach Communication Skills- communication is one of the most basic, yet important skills of a good leader. According to the Center for Creative Leadership, “Communicating information and ideas, is consistently rated among the most important skills for leaders to be successful.”
- Encourage them to be their own individuals – Taekwondo training is also about giving kids confidence in themselves and their own identities.
- Role Models – We share how important it is for our students to have positive role models and mentors in their lives. Choosing friends wisely should begin sooner, rather than later.
- Promote ” I can” over the “I can’t mentality” – If there is one phrase Master Voysey cannot stand, it is hearing “I can’t” This phrase alone has defeated so many people before they even began realizing their potential.
- Champion Endurance – we teach our students that it takes a strong body, mind and spirit to be not just in Taekwondo, but life itself. Seize the dreams and overcoming obstacles.
